Trelowena
(Tre means Home and Lowena means Joy in Cornish)
A collection of vectored placements & repeats for use on ceramicware.
This is my Final Major Project for my final year as a Surface Pattern Design student at Plymouth College of Art. I was inspired by Mid-Century, Post-War and Scandinavian Surface Design to create this collection of placement and repeat prints for use on a tea set. These designs are available to licence, if interested, please get in touch.

I experimented with creating colour from food stuffs when the first lockdown prevented me from using the colleges dye lab. The strength and breadth of colours I was able to produce was astonishing and I used these bright, happy colours to build my final palette for this project.
I took inspiration from Matisse and used cut outs to experiment with simple geometric forms as a way of building my motifs. As an illustrator, I can't help but put too much detail into my drawings so this was a way for me to produce simplified forms by removing any drawing from this initial experimental phase.
